A Chance Encounter: Syrian Theatre Now

A Chance Encounter: Syrian Theatre Now

April 10-12, 2015 at Lincoln Hall Studio Theater, Portland State University
“Fear is a human instinct, but the fear is no longer preventing people from doing things,” Syrian playwright Mohammad Al-Attar told The New York Times in June 2012. Now living in Beirut, Al-Attar continues to chronicle the human side of the Syrian conflict through his plays, commentary, and applied theatre projects. Find out how one brave artist is making a difference in this evening-length program of performance and discussion.
Featuring actors John San Nicholas, David Meyers, and Alex Leigh Ramirez, under Tracy Cameron Francis’ direction.
Presented in partnership with the School of Theater and Film, College of the Arts, Portland State University, & the World Affairs Council of Oregon. Co-sponsored by the Arab American Cultural Center of Oregon.
Presented with project support from the Jubitz Foundation, the Puffin Foundation, and the Global Connections program of TCG Theatre Communications Group.
